  • If you are eligible to transfer between towns or states, ask your leasing officer or agency if you will retain your existing voucher or be acquired by the housing agency of the unit you are moving to. For example, if you have a voucher with Dedham Housing Authority but are relocating to an apartment in Dorchester, determine if you will keep your voucher with Dedham or be transferred to Boston Housing Authority. If you are eligible to transfer or use your existing voucher within the scope of our residential units, begin the application process detailed here Application process. An application approval always helps agencies move a little bit quicker when it comes to transferring vouchers.

  • Every landlord has different requirements. Our largest partner in available affordable housing, 388 LLC Property Management, understands that credit is not the end-all-be-all for being accepted to a unit. 388 Real Estate LLC generally takes a holistic approach to the application process. We generally look for a score of about 550 or above. If you have any additional concerns or questions about our application process, visit our Application Process page here Tenant Screening Process.

  • Falling behind on rent can happen to anyone.

Firstly, you should absolutely contact your property manager and explain what is going on. We are fortunate to live and work in the State of Massachusetts that has countless Resources (Rental assistance) to assist you with rental relief.

Secondly, you should immediately notify your leasing officer or agency that your income has changed. They may be able to help you submit new income documents so that your portion of the rent can be adjusted to properly reflect your current income situation.
